Rio Tinto and Accenture have partnered in order to migrate core enterprise IS&T systems to an "As-a-Service" solution based in the cloud.
The move is designed to modernise Rio Tinto’s Enterprise Resource Planning and Information Management platforms, as well as hosting these applications in the public cloud.
Accenture will manage the maintenance and upgrade the application landscape as well as related infrastructure. These functions will be managed via the Accenture Cloud Platform and will adopt a public cloud first policy.

The move for Rio Tinto will hopefully lead to cost savings, increased flexibility and is part of its move to digitise the business.
