With the continued blockade of Facebook in China, the country’s Cyberspace Administration head Lu Wei met Mark Zuckerberg in the US.
With more details on the reason for Chinese bureaucrat’s visit to US remains undisclosed, Lu met Apple CEO Tim Cook and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos too during his visit, reported China.com.cn.
Facebook has been blocked by China’s censors since 2009 and it is now seeking to develop its business selling ads to firms via an office in Hong Kong.
China has also indicated that Facebook is welcome to enter the country’s market, providing it complies with the government regulations, including sticking to the country’s stringent censorship rules.
However, in June, China’s state media allegedly sought the government to punish US tech major’s including Google,
Microsoft, Facebook, Apple and others over their alleged involvement in, PRISM which is a National Security Agency (NSA) data mining programme.
All US tech major’s are have wish to enter a market with more than 600 million Internet users, which has already turned out to be the world’s biggest market for PCs and smartphones.
