Birmingham video games distributor Centregold Plc has had a torrid time since it floated in London, and it has had to disappoint its fans yet again. The company said yesterday that the significant second half improvement in operating profitabilty that it forecast with its first-half results now looked unachievable. It now expects to make a second-half loss similar to the รบ3.9m loss it made in the first six months, and would be proposing no final dividend for the full year. The forthcoming launch of new compact disk and PC-CD hardware formats… has continued to encourage consumers to wait for the launch of the new generation of hardware products scheduled for autumn 1995, it said. As a result of the weak demand caused by this, Centregold had decided to defer the release of a number of new products, including a new range of multimedia products, until the first half of the next financial year. It also said it was now also discussing with a small number of international players the possibility of a strategic alliance. The shares slumped 14.5 pence to 37.5 on the news.
