BT, Hitachi target manufacturing with IoT partnership

Companies aim to take advantage of a "critical inflection point" that IoT has created.

By James Nunns

BT and Hitachi have struck a partnership that’ll see them co-create technology for industrial and enterprise IoT use.

The deal between Hitachi Vantara, a newly created company by Hitachi, and BT is said to be aimed at driving “better business outcomes for global customers,” by doing things such as improving efficiency, productivity, and providing cost savings.

Work between the two will initially focus on designing asset intelligence and predictive maintenance solutions for customers in manufacturing and transportation.

The partnership will bring together BT’s global network infrastructure with Hitachi’s IT expertise and the Lumada IoT platform software and integrated IoT services and solutions portfolio.
