VMware is acquiring Boxer as it looks to strengthen its AirWatch offering.

The move is designed to further integrate easy-to-use applications into its data management platform.

Boxer, which provides a personal information management and social networking solutions to enterprises, will be integrated into the AirWatch team.

AirWatch, VMware’s business mobility product line will be boosted by the integration of Boxer into its services.

VMware explained in a blog post that the reason it is "doubling down" on the acquisition is to optimise native email experiences across iOS and Android devices for businesses, with extra security and control.

The company has partnered with and supports the likes of Box, Dropbox, Evernote, Facebook, Twitter, Gmail and others.
