Boston Business Computing Inc of Andover, Massachusetts, and Ki Research Inc, Belmont, California, have signed an agreement jointly to develop DECnet support for Vbackup, Boston’s emulation of the VMS Backup utility for Unix machines. The product will consist of additions to Vbackup which will enable it to work over Ki’s Unix implementation of DECnet – the company {calls it DEKnet. It will be available on Alliant Computer, Data General, MIPS Computer Systems, Multiflow, Sequent Computer, Stardent, Sun Microsystems and Tektronix hardware from the first quarter of next year – prices go from $400 to $4,000.
