BAE Systems to investigate TalkTalk hack

News: Metropolitan Police Cyber Crime Unit is also conducting a criminal investigation into the incident and has arrested a suspect.

By CBR Staff Writer

TalkTalk has appointed BAE Systems to lead the investigation into the company’s recent cyber attack.

A TalkTalk spokesperson was quoted by Reuters as saying: ""BAE Systems are supporting us as we investigate this week’s cyber attack."

The attack is likely to have led to the theft of personal data of over four million customers served by the company, following which it had also received a ransom demand from an unidentified party.

Cyber-specialists under BAE’s Applied Intelligence division are involved in evaluating how the breach was planned and what information has been stolen.

Further details about the ongoing investigation have not been disclosed.

Metropolitan Police Cyber Crime Unit is also conducting a criminal investigation for the incident and has arrested a suspect.
