Mount Laurel, New Jersey-based AW Computer Systems Inc has signed with IBM Corp to provide a store point of sale system to an unidentified major retail chain which is presently an NCR Corp user: IBM will supply the 4680 Store System and AW Computer will supply a hardware adaptor for the IBM computer, which together with its software will enable the IBM computer to communicate effectively with the retailer’s existing NCR terminals; the contract is valued at $6m all told, $2.5m of it coming this year.
