Avid Technology Inc has signed an OEM agreement worth $4.4m with Florida-based Atlightspeed Inc. The deal will give Avid’s UK subsidiary, Parallax Software Group Ltd, the rights to develop its Matador paint and compositing software using Atlightspeed’s Time Driver re-programmable hardware board. Matador is mainly used by graphic artists for keying, compositing and colour-correcting video frames. It will also give Avid worldwide distribution rights for Time Driver. The first version of Matador using the boards will ship in the first quarter of next year.
