Following a decline in local business, particularly in the government sector, Australian IT company ERA Computers Corp Pty Ltd, known as Eracom, has been sold to Concord Eracom Nederlands BV for an undisclosed sum. Embittered Eracom chairman Bruce Small blames the company’s fate on Federal Government outsourcing and purchasing policies. It didn’t seem to matter that our technology was being bought by the German, Belgian Swiss, Dutch and Italian governments, Small told the Australian Financial Review. Canberra actually paid a UK company, Admiral, $75,000 to evaluate some of our stuff, he said, That is what happens when you’re an Australian company. You have no credibility with the bureaucrats in your own country. Small will keep his existing stake in Concord Eracom Nederlands, which has provided software support and hardware sales for Eracom over the last ten years.
