Naples, Florida-based ASG did not disclose the sum paid for the company, but said the deal strengthens its infrastructure management product family with the addition of Chevin’s TeVISTA distributed network performance and management software.

ASG said it will re-brand and market Chevin products worldwide as ASG-TeVista Performance Manager and ASG-TeVista Expert. Performance Manager is a platform-independent network and application performance offering that simulates user activity to measure the rate of data transfer in IT services. Once problems with network-related throughput are identified from the end-user perspective, they can then be diagnosed and resolved using Expert, in conjunction with ASG’s existing hardware and software monitoring solutions, said the company.

Chevin was founded in 1989 and is based in Luton, UK. ASG, meanwhile, was founded in 1986. The company has around 100 separate products, which it has been integrating under a business service management umbrella. It competes in this space with Peregrine Systems, Computer Associates, BMC Software, IBM’s Tivoli division, and HP’s OpenView line. It has made over 30 acquisitions since it was founded. It has 900 staff in 45 offices.

ASG founder, president, and CEO Arthur Allen said, ASG’s enterprise-wide technology management solutions, coupled with Chevin’s network and application performance technology, offer an innovative approach to managing mission-critical business networks, resulting in reduced time-to-resolution and an improved experience for users and customers. We are very impressed with Chevin’s technology and team of professionals, and we look forward to them joining the ASG team.
