Apple Computer Inc says that nearly 60 companies have optimized their hardware and software products for the new G4 Macintosh with velocity engine or AltiVec 128-bit vector processing support. They include high-end graphics applications, non-linear video cards, DVD software, medical imaging software and 3D games engines. Some are shipping immediately, the company said.
Third-party developers announcing or previewing new products optimized for the G4 include 3dfx Interactive Inc, ATTO Technology Inc, Adobe Systems Inc, Avid Technology Inc, Bungie Software, Casady & Greene, Linker Systems, Macromedia Inc, Maxon Computer Inc, Media 100, Research Systems Inc, Sonic Solutions Inc, Synthetik Software, Terran Interactive and TeraGlobal Inc.
