Apple Computer Inc is porting its QuickTime Conferencing and QuickDraw 3D software to Windows 95 and Windows NT. Apple confirmed to Computergram last night it’s developing a Windows version of its QuickTime audio and video software, which allows conferencing over the Internet. It’s expected to ship early next year. Meanwhile, Apple also has Windows versions of its QuickDraw 3D graphics applications program interface in the works, according to US reports. Apple CEO Gilbert Amelio is expected to outline plans to develop Windows software in his speech at MacWorld today (CI No 2,971). Apple is said to be porting its latest version of the QuickDraw 1.5 development kit, which is due out in September. Apple first built QuickDraw 3D on top of its Mac operating system last year. QuickDraw incorporates a high-level modelling toolkit and an acceleration manager for hardware acceleration. QuickDraw 3D is also part of Apple’s Kickstart suite of development tools, which it is offering for download from its OpenDoc Web server to attract developers to its OpenDoc initiative (CI No 2,941).
