Following 6.5 million iOS subscribers, Apple is now targeting millions of Android users with the launch of Apple Music on Google’s OS.

The Android app has now been launched in beta, after its release for iOS on June 30 in more than 100 countries.

With the Android launch, Apple is making one of its first attempts to make one of its own apps available on Android.

Eddy Cue, Apple’s SVP of internet software and services, said that the company "wanted the [service] to be for everyone".

He said: "We wanted people to be able to enjoy music on their iPhone, or Android phone, or Windows computer, or Apple TV. Everyone loves music."

Cue also said that if people have used the music service on iOS, "you have used it for Android".
