Apple Computer Inc has divisionalised its research and development and worldwide product marketing functions, creating a Macintosh Hardware division to focus on development of new Macs and peripherals, a Macintosh Software Architecture division to concentrate on the timely delivery of Macintosh system software enhancements and developer services; an Enterprise System division will develop hardware and software for customers needing industry standards, larger networks, and multivendor communications; and an Object-Based Systems division is chartered to create new software for personal computing in the 1990s; a Consumer division will focus on the creation of lower-priced, high-volume products for the consumer market; the Advanced Technology Group and the Advanced Products Group will continue to concentrate on investigating compelling new technologies and develop products that extend traditionalnotions of personal computing.
