Amiga Corp could be on the brink of pulling out of the hardware business. Since CEO Jim Collas stepped down unexpectedly at the end of last month, the vociferous Amiga community has been ablaze with speculation about the fate of the company and its products. Amiga’s owner, Gateway Inc, had been planning to use Amiga as its ticket into the nascent home networking market, producing a home networking hub, a set-top box and a multimedia computer to appease the Amiga faithful. However, it now appears that Gateway will simply push an Amiga home networking operating system. Sources suggest that the company will make an announcement about its status today.
