Amdahl Corp has come up with a new consultancy service, which it calls Enterprise File Manager: the company offers to centralise the tasks of managing and protecting critical business data in distributed Unix and personal computer environments, integrating a broad array of hardware and software products to create a high-capacity, automated system tailored to a customer’s individual needs for centrally storing and managing data; environments can include personal computers, workstations, minicomputers, mainframes, even supercomputers; the implementation service, from planning to final test, normally takes from six to nine weeks and, in the US, costs from $50,000 to $90,000 depending on user needs.
