Adobe follows Microsoft & Netflix and extends parental leave

The company will now offer new parents up to 26 weeks of paid time.

By CBR Staff Writer

Adobe Systems is the latest tech firm to extend its paid parental leave policy, following similar moves by Microsoft and Netflix.

Adobe will now offer new parents up to 26 weeks of paid time off via a combination of medical and parental leave. The new US leave programmes start on 1 November, the company said in a blog post.

The changes include about 10 weeks of medical leave and 16 weeks of paid time for primary caregivers, enabling new parents to spend more time with their children.

In addition, the company’s family care leave plan now provides employees up to four weeks of paid time to take care of a sick family member.

Adobe senior vice president of People and Places Donna Morris said: "We join an industry movement to better support our employees while striving towards increased workforce diversity.

"I am very proud that Adobe and others in the technology industry such as Microsoft and Netflix are stepping up to drive some fundamental changes that support working families."

Last week, Microsoft said it will now offer 20 weeks of paid leave to new mothers and 12 paid weeks to fathers.
