Adaptec Inc has sold off patents, intellectual property and chip engineering operations relating to its fibre channel and SCSI interface controllers to the Storage Products division of Texas Instruments Inc, according to a report in Semiconductor Business News. Since it failed in its bid to acquire Hyundai Electronics Co’s Symbios Inc semiconductor and storage systems unit last month (CI No 3,440), Adaptec has been divesting businesses and technology as quickly as it can, and plans to concentrate on its core SCSI and RAID hardware and software business.
