Adaptec Inc has acquired Aachen, Germany-based CeQuadrant GmbH for around $25m in cash. Privately-held CeQuadrant develops and sells CD-R software products through OEM and retail channels. Adaptec said it wouldn’t be changing CeQuadrant’s way of operating, but would be expanding the company, which it expects to eventually form the European headquarters of the Adaptec Software Products Group. Adaptec spent last year divesting itself of businesses and technology in order to concentrate on its core SCSI and RAID hardware and software businesses.
