Days after Acer Inc failed to agree with Siemens AG on the takeover of its PC production unit at Augsburg, in Germany (CI No 3,491), the Taiwanese electronics company has announced a restructuring program that it hopes will help propel it into the ranks of the largest five computer hardware vendors in Europe. The restructuring, which aims to improve Acer’s brand awareness in Europe, will result in Acer’s new European headquarters in Slough, UK taking charge of marketing, channel and brand strategy, whereas finance and logistics will be managed from Acer’s offices in Ahrensburg, Germany
