About 64% of HR professionals at the UK organisations are facing difficulty in finding right candiate with specific IT skills, in the midst of rise in demand for those candidates, according to a new survey by InterQuest Group.
The survey revealed that about 78% of HR professionals believe there has been a rise in demand for candidates with specialist IT skills, including Big Data (SAS, Vertica & Hadoop), HTML5, Javascript and Telecoms Protocol (iOS & Android).
InterQuest CEO Mark Braund said that there is a need for more skilled staff to sustain with the rapid moving pace of the technology industry.
"An issue occurs when, as we have found, organisations are not able to find employees with these specific abilities," Braund said.
"New and emerging technologies represent some of the toughest challenges.
"Our findings highlight the ongoing need for recruitment professionals who are focused exclusively within niche markets, who can recruit with genuine expertise in their sector."
Recently, the UK Commission on the Future of Higher Education, established by the Institute for Public Policy Research, and called for re-launching the ‘polytechnic’ to deal with skills gap by training more candidates in vocational subjects.
Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development’s (CIPD) 2013 Talent and Resourcing Survey earlier revealed that 46% of firms consider hiring technical specialists as second most difficult group.
