Jaguar Land Rover has launched a new technology start up, InMotion, which will develop apps and on-demand services to overcome modern travel and transport challenges.
The UK luxury automaker said that its new company will start real-world testing a number of different services like car sharing and car ownership solutions.
These services will be tested in the regions of North America, Europe and Asia in the coming months, the company said.
Jaguar Land Rover group strategy director Adrian Hallmark said: "With the development of new apps and on-demand services, InMotion provides us with an opportunity to provide engaging and invaluable experiences to both new and existing customers globally.
"As a start-up business, InMotion combines the flexibility and pace needed to compete in the ever-changing mobility sector.
"It allows us to react quickly to new tech and ever-changing customer demands."
The aim of InMotion is to develop technology, combining the best ofthe automotive and technology sectors to offer new solutions to access vehicles through smartphones and connected devices.
The company says that it will first start collecting information from people from different walks of life across the world about the kind of travel and transport issues that they face.
It will later carry out an in-depth analysis and the insights from the analysis can lead to some real-world experiments and multiple approaches which can be effective in solving those transport and travel issues.
The next stage is to develop a business and technology platform upon which the solution can be developed and launched.
Jaguar Land Rover says that it is confident about this approach as it allows to build engaging and relevant services.
The new company will be based in London and will initially employ up to 30 people who will support entrepreneurs to build new businesses.
