IT and business consulting services firm CGI has announced the upgrade of CGI Advantage for the American city of Los Angeles.

CGI Advantage is a cloud-based solution designed to integrate and optimise the management of financial, procurement, and reporting operations in a modern and unified platform.

It is a government-focused solution built on years of industry expertise, complemented by value-added business process services tailored to meet the specific needs of public sector organisations.

According to CGI, the most advanced version of CGI Advantage has been delivered on time and on budget to the City of Los Angeles.

The solution features a streamlined and intuitive user interface that boosts processing speed and ensures a smooth and efficient workflow besides maintaining policy compliance.

CGI US west operations senior vice president Joanna Robinson said: “Our ongoing partnership with the City of Los Angeles focuses on people as well as technology.

“CGI is not only an IT provider to the city but also as a change management advisor during their transition to a solution that provides a platform for growth as their requirements grow and evolve over time.”

CGI Advantage is also said to have addressed all of the city’s requirements with the extensibility and configuration capabilities, eliminating 130 customisations.

The city also leverages CGI Advantage’s integration platform to reduce reliance on manual processing. In addition, the solution allows for real-time integration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Salesforce technologies used by the city.

CGI’s transformation of Los Angeles’ enterprise resource planning (ERP) system also concentrated on change management, delivery excellence, and user experience.

This included implementing an online vendor self-service platform for the city’s 7,300 vendors to manage account details, track contract and payment statuses, submit invoices, and respond to opportunities for bidding.

Furthermore, the eProcurement system digitises purchasing processes across contracts, inventory, and catalogues, providing an intuitive online shopping-like experience.

The modernisation also involved migrating the city’s data storage, enabling the decommissioning of an outdated and costly content management solution.

City of Los Angeles chief information officer Ted Ross said: “With CGI Advantage, the City of Los Angeles has been transforming core business processes such as commodity invoice processing, year-end accruals, online reporting and other vital functions that support responsible stewardship of our finances.

“The city also gains the flexibility to introduce new features to the user experience and implement new business rules without costly upgrades which saves taxpayer dollars.”
