Pick-popping comes second only to putting another prawn on the barbie Down Under, and ambitious Sanderson Electronics Plc is getting into the thick of it by joining forces with General Automation Inc – in which it currently holds 35% with options to go to 51% and control – to buy the AWA Computers Ltd subsidiary of AWA Pty Ltd, the Australian electronics conglomerate formerly known as Amalgamated Wireless Australia. The business is to go into a new company, SGA Pty Ltd, into which the Sheffield, Yorkshire company will invest UKP500,000 in equity and loans for a 45% stake. Irvine, California-based General Automation will take a 30% stake, contributing its lively Hong Kong and Singapore subsidiaries, the balance going to SGA management.
