The licensing of the VoyenceControl software is intended to improve the way HP OpenView shops can manage network changes. It will assist in the design of new virtual networks, provide design templates for new device deployments, and enforce and report on adherence to policies over the entire domain, or just one network, site or subnet.
The software is said to follow recommendations laid out in ITIL guidelines for configuration and change management.
The system integrates to most of the leading service desk systems and will notify trouble ticket, fault monitoring, and network management applications when configuration changes are made to the network. The software, which runs on Sun Solaris 9 or Red Hat Linux, should become available from August.
