Security & Privacy

The explosive growth of Internet of Things has entered into people’s private lives – homes, cars, gyms, schools. With its pervasive character, the Internet of Things raises numerous questions in regards to privacy. Protecting people’s sensitive information has become an important challenge to be faced.

In parallel, a recent worldwide cyber-attack has affected hundreds of thousands computers in more than 150 countries. The attack called WannaCry has brought major companies in Europe to a standstill.

It practically hijacked people’s computers and demanded a ransom in exchange for releasing their data. The number of reported ransomware attacks continues to grow and the scale of their impact is unimaginable. This calls for immediate measures and actions from all sides.

At IoT Week 2017, we have dedicated a whole track of sessions to ‘IoT Security and Privacy’ which will tackle a series of questions of great importance to the success of IoT technology, taking deep dives into topics such as:

  • Privacy, personal data protection and IoT deployments
  • The impact of the new data protection regulations (European GDPR, etc.) on IoT
  • Emerging trends and technologies in encryption
  • Addressing constrained devices security, authentication and reliability

By joining the IoT Week 2017, you will also find out all the latest IoT developments in many fields of life including Smart Cities, Smart Transportations, Smart Agriculture, Smart Living & Ageing Well, eHealth, Smart Factory and Smart Energy.

The Global IoT Summit (IEEE endorsed), will be collocated with the IoT Week and will present industry sessions and selected peer-reviewed scientific articles on the most recent IoT innovations from all over the world.

During the four conference days participants will be able to attend prime quality plenary sessions, interesting panel discussions, numerous workshops and the Hackathon competition with the total prize fund of more than 9’000 CHF. They will also have a chance to visit IoT Week’s Exhibition Area showcasing the latest projects, products and research results.

As the ultimate meeting point for modern IoT decision makers, IoT Week 2017 is an event that should not be missed!
