Feeling a little more confident now that it is being bankrolled by Sanderson Computers Plc, General Automation Inc has completely recast its Pick-based computer line, dumping the Zebra name and calling the new line – which replaces many of its mid-range models – the GA3000 Series. The new series is built around the Motorola 68020, and is designe dto be much more modular than the machines it replaces. It comes in a slim vertical cabinet, supports eight to 64 users, choice of four processor boards 12.5MHz, 16.7MHz, and 20MHz and 25MHz, the last two with 64Kb static cache. Memory can be 1Mb, 2Mb, 4Mb or 8Mb, four disks are supported with 74Mb, 162Mb, 310Mb and 617Mb drives available, and there is a range of tape drives. End user tags are $15,000 to $140,000, and the machines are available now to the US dealer net.
