Richardson, Texas-based Computer Automation Inc is so strapped for cash that it has asked IBM Corp, which pays royalties on its Automatic Modular Memory Address Allocation System patent because it is used in the Micro Channel, to convert to a fully paid-up licence by paying a $1.6m lump sum; the cash will enable Computer Automation to prepay the remaining balance of about $1.1m on notes issued in its January 1990 placing, and the other $500,000 will be used to enable it to pursue the market for its Q/Fax Facsimile Management System for Digital Equipment Corp Q-bus VMS minis, and expand the sales efforts for its automatic test equipment.
