Asyst Technologies Inc will acquire privately held Radiance Systems Inc for about $2m in a stock for stock agreement, enabling Asyst to offer a wider range of automation software to its semiconductor customers. Fremont, California-based Asyst will acquire all of Radiance’s assets and technologies, which it will merge with subsidiary Asyst Software Inc in San Jose, California. Specifically, the deal will enable Asyst to integrate Santa Clara, California-based Radiance’s 50 equipment interface drivers based on the Virtual Factory Equipment Interface (VFEI) protocol with its own products. Asyst, which has about 700 employees, has signed a letter of intent and expects to close the deal in 30 days, taking on all 15 Radiance staff.
