Storage company EMC and virtualisation firm Vmware have partnered to deliver applications that combine storage intelligence with the analytics and infrastructure visualisation of VMware vCenter Operations.

The extended partnership will see the two companies deliver EMC VNX Storage Analytics Suite based on VMware vCenter Operations Management Suite, and EMC VNX Connector.

The VNX Storage Analytics Suite offers capabilities such as storage performance and capacity optimisation and service-level agreement (SLA) improvement through analytics and diagnostics, while the VNX Connector provides VNX storage metrics and configurable dashboards within the VMware Operations Management Suite.

The Storage Analytics Suite enables storage operations management with customisable dashboards.

It will also support block and file storage as well as display EMC Fully Automated Storage Tiering (FAST) Cache configuration and performance, and FAST VP (FAST for Virtual Pools) tiers and policies.

Integration with EMC VNX Connector for VMware vCenter Operations Management Suite will include VNX storage metrics with VMware vCenter Operations capabilities such as configurable dashboards, health alerts and patented analytics.

These new applications increases the storage performance and capacity optimisation across physical and virtual environments, said the company.

VMware Cloud and Virtualization Management Products vice president and general manager Ramin Sayar said the combination of EMC storage intelligence and VMware’s vCenter Operations Management Suite will offer automated optimisation and simplicity for their joint customers.

"With this integrated cross-domain solution, organizations of all sizes can proactively manage their overall infrastructure system health, as they continue to automate and transform their IT infrastructure," said Sayar.
