Star, a provider of on-demand computing and communication services for UK businesses, has launched a new, on-demand email archiving service, VitalMail.
The company said the new service provides a secure, scalable and unlimited storage environment that removes the need for on-site archiving hardware and software.
Any UK business running Microsoft Exchange can access VitalMail, which provides compliant, unlimited archiving without the risk and management costs associated with on-premise alternatives.
The service combines unlimited storage and retention of emails, with quick and easy end-user search and retrieval functionality, ensuring organisations to retrieve emails for legal discovery, regulatory or compliance purposes.
The company said that using the hosted service VitalMail administrators can now compile reports on a weekly or daily basis to comply with policy enforcement.
Star marketing director Martino Corbelli said with email volumes growing continually it’s no wonder that the issue of how to store and retrieve unstructured data has become a real challenge for many small and medium sized UK businesses.
"Many laws and regulations now require the retention of email for extended periods of time, something which on-site email servers are not really designed for, and replicating them can be expensive," Corbelli said.
"VitalMail provides a no compromise option for security and compliance and is a reliable, always-on and scalable archiving service with the benefit of predictable monthly costs."
The company said costs for the service start at around £4 per user, per month for unlimited storage, with no set-up charges.
