Red Hat has partnered with Cloudera, a provider of Apache Hadoop, to develop open source analytics offerings, which they claim will ensure better security and scalability for enterprises.
The alliance will see them integrate the Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Storage Server with Cloudera’s Manager, Enterprise and Navigator tools in efforts to ensure that the data platforms are secure and scalable.
There are also plans to integrate Red Hat’s Enterprise Linux OpenStack platform with Cloudera Director and Cloudera Enterprise, which will be managed by Red Hat’s CloudForms.
Tim Stevens, VP of Business and Corporate Development at Cloudera, said: "Our alliance with Red Hat allows for Hadoop workloads to be deployed and managed with the same confidence as other mission-critical workloads to deliver the next wave of big data-based innovation for the enterprise."
Scott Musson, Red Hat’s VP of Global Strategic Alliances, added: "Red Hat believes the data life cycle in the enterprise is changing rapidly and requires an open, agile approach to innovation in the data centre. Hadoop and OpenStack are key components to this disruption.
"With today’s announcement, Red Hat and Cloudera intend to give customers an open and modular technology stack to quickly derive new insights from their data, optimise their existing investment in platform infrastructure and lower the overall cost of managing data platforms."
