Teradata is accelerating its roadmap for Presto by delivering ODBC and JDBC drivers for free.

The Open Database Connectivity and Java Database Connectivity drivers, aim to make the Presto SQL query engine more enterprise ready.

It aims to achieve this by unlocking business intelligence and applications. The drivers will provide the connection and implementation protocol for transferring query and result between application and database.

The Presto technology is an important element of Netflix’s Big Data platform, however, a challenge has been the absence of ODBC and JDBC drivers.

The new drivers will enable Presto to utilise organisations’ analytic environments to run interactive analytical queries at scale. It also aims to leverage existing SQL business intelligence and visualisation tools.

The use of the drives interfaces aims to make it easy to develop BI applications in the data lake.
