Data centre infrastructure and services provider Datalink has introduced a new managed backup service to relieve IT managers from day-to-day responsibility for data backup operations.

The new service deliver 24×7 backup protection for enterprise and mid-tier organisations using Symantec NetBackup environments.

Datalink has previously introduced a managed monitoring service that continuously tracks data centre infrastructure systems and applications to maximise performance and IT service delivery to end users.

The two managed backup services will enable Datalink customers to optimise use of their internal IT resources by outsourcing key IT administration functions to the company.

The new managed backup service supports multiple data protection technologies incorporating remediation and restore capabilities, which can start restoring data within 30 minutes of the request.

Datalink’s new service offers a complete visibility into backup operational performance through a customer portal that provides real-time performance reports while reports can be scheduled for daily, weekly, or quarterly delivery.

Datalink can also support any backup strategy including tape, disk and cloud. It can customise applications for any backup scenario including long-term management of tape archives and provide complete new backup system design and deployment utilising a choice of technologies.
