CommVault has revealed that its Simpana software and Simpana Universal Virtual Server Agent have now achieved VMware Ready Data Protection Status. The status indicates that Simpana software has passed a detailed evaluation and testing process defined by VMware and is now listed on the VMware partner product catalog as an offering that delivers optimised levels of integration, functionality and performance.
According to the company, passing the VMware Ready Data Protection testing helps ensure that CommVault Simpana 8 is tuned to leverage VMware platform functionality and is ready for deployment in joint customer environments.
The company claims that its customers can take advantage of VMware Ready Simpana software to reduce the administrative challenges and costs of managing explosive data growth and growing virtualised environments.
The company said that with Simpana software’s Universal Virtual Server Agent, backup, recovery and retention of data hosted within VMware vSphere 4 environments can be simplified through integration with the VMware Consolidated Backup (VCB) framework.
The Simpana software is suited for enterprises planning to deploy server virtualisation, implement a disaster recovery site with virtual machines and for organisations seeking cost-effective products for streamlining data management in virtualised environments, including backup and recovery, archive, replication and reporting, CommVault added.
Parag Patel, vice president of alliances at Vmware, said: “By combining Simpana software with the VMware vSphere 4 platform, enterprises can achieve heightened levels of data protection while easing various aspects of data management in their growing virtualised environments.
“We are pleased that CommVault Simpana software qualifies for the VMware Ready Data Protection program, signifying to customers that Simpana software has passed specific VMware testing criteria and is ready to run their mission-critical business applications and operations.”
