Server, desktop virtualisation, networking and cloud computing technologies provider Citrix Systems and integrated data storage applications provider NetApp have collaborated to deliver a new application that is optimised for Citrix ShareFile with StorageZones.
The new joint application is claimed to enable enterprises simplify and accelerate data sharing and storage for on-premise, virtual and cloud environments.
Citrix ShareFile is an enterprise follow-me data application that allows users to sync and share data from any device, the company said.
ShareFile with StorageZones allows IT to manage corporate data on-premise, or in Citrix-managed secure cloud storage options or a mix of both.
With the new application, Citrix ShareFile customers can access FAS and V-Series storage systems running clustered Data ONTAP.
StorageZones with Data ONTAP offers a secure application that can access data anytime and provides a platform that offers file access and synchronisation while meeting security requirements, the company added.
The two technologies, StorageZones and Data ONTAP, together keeps data on-premise to help meet compliance and data sovereignty requirements, employs device security policies, generates custom audit logs by tracking and logging user activity.
In addition, they also takes the backup/recovery based on Snapshot technology, accelerates data access by keeping data close to users with customer-managed StorageZones and maintains accessibility to data.
The joint application improves storage performance or capacity, offers less power and less datacenter space with NetApp storage efficiency by using few disk drives and stores all user data for Citrix ShareFile, XenDesktop and XenApp on a unified architecture.
