Yahoo! has landed a deal with Telefonica Espana under which the internet company will power its mobile internet search experience and sponsored search advertising on Spanish telecommunications network operator’s emocion portal.

Yahoo! said that its mobile search service provides Telefonica customers in Spain with relevant information on any topic from news, financial information, weather conditions, Flickr photos, and travel information, to websites, integrated information from Wikipedia and Yahoo! Answers, and more.

In addition, Yahoo! will also display relevant ringtones, wallpapers, games, and other content from the emocion portal within the search results. Telefonica Espana and Yahoo! will include sponsored search listings within the emocion portal.

The partnership builds on the mobile search agreement with O2 Germany launched in November 2009, as well as the agreement signed in October 2007 to provide consumers with Yahoo! as the primary search service on Telefonica’s mobile portals in 15 European and Latin American countries.

Rich Riley, senior vice president of Yahoo! Europe, said: This is an important milestone as we extend our relationship with Telefonica and offer consumers across Spain with an engaging mobile search experience that enables them to discover their world and the world around them.

“Together, Telefonica and Yahoo! are enhancing the mobile Internet experience for consumers, while creating scale for advertisers, enabling them to reach the rapidly growing audience of mobile consumers.”
