Russian telecommunications provider VimpelCom Limited has selected Motorola’s VIP22n2E series set-tops to expand their roll out of enhanced IPTV services to customers under its Beeline brand.

Motorola Mobility said that the VIP2202 and VIP2262 set-tops allow operators to expand their subscriber base and grow average revenues per user by offering consumers rich home entertainment experiences such as personal video recording (with the VIP2262 model), time shifting, electronic programming guides and HD content.

In addition, with multi-room functionality and a built in hard disc, the VIP2262 gives operators the flexibility to offer a range of new services including on-demand content and Internet via the TV – without the need for back-end and network upgrades, said Motorola.

Motorola Mobility Home business vice-president and general manager Steve McCaffery said the announcement reinforces the synergies between Motorola and VimpelCom and reflects Motorola’s strong commitment and focus in Russia.

McCaffery said, "We’ve designed the VIP22n2 series of set-tops with customers like Beeline in mind; young, dynamic and eager to offer customers the most up to date services to its customers. Using our IP set-tops, VimpelCom can offer new services that will differentiate it in the market and attract new subscribers."
