The network service will use Thus’ Calls and Lines service to carry voice traffic for over 50 Council locations and will also provide mobile services to around 300 employees.
The deal will see Thus provide a fixed line and mobile telephony service in an attempt to enable the council to meet its aim of service reliability. Thus will provide the council with pro-active account management; offering advice on all aspects of the voice and mobile services, including portal-based reporting and e-Billing services.
Thus says the service is fully supported and tailored to meet the council’s specific needs. South Somerset District Council runs a predominantly rural area and says it is committed to improving the economic strength of the area and the quality of life of its residents.
Gary Russ, procurement manager at South Somerset District Council, said: The contract we have signed with Thus reflects our need to move to a single supplier environment and enjoy the benefits that this will bring. We chose Thus as it offered what we needed and more, delivering a solution that meets our requirement for secure and reliable telecom services now, but also offering ongoing support and direction over the coming years. This will help us meet our objectives and commitments to delivering high quality, cost effective services to the people of South Somerset.
Phil Male, chief operating officer at Thus, said: Traditional voice services remain the back-bone of organisations up and down the country. Reliable, available voice communication improves efficiency and productivity and for a council covering rural locations, mobile connectivity is particularly important. We look forward to working with South Somerset District Council.
