One of Telecity’s main data centres in London has suffered two consequent power outages this week.
The outage happened just days after the EU’s conditional seal of approval for the Equinix and Telecity merger.
Equinix will be selling off eight EU data centres to meet the Commission’s conditions including the affected Sovereign House hub in London Docklands.
The affected site provides services to several businesses including the London Internet Exchange (LINX) and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
On Tuesday, the hub’s UPS lost power and systems failed to get the backup generators running. On Wednesday early morning it went down for a second time, according to EX Networks (EXN).
An EXN report said: "Telecity are also installing six new power feeds from the non-affected train into the LINX suite in order to retain some service.
"EXN will shut down affected peers during this work, however some minor disruption to connectivity services should be expected."
AWS said on Tuesday: "We can confirm intermittent packet loss between the Direct Connect location at TelecityGroup, London Docklands, and the EU-WEST-1 Region.
"An external facility providing Direct Connect connectivity to the EU-WEST-1 Region has experienced power loss."
Telecity has not yet commented on the incident.
