T-Mobile USA, the US operating arm of Deutsche Telekom, has reported total revenues of $5.36bn in the fourth quarter of 2010, a marginal decline compared to $5.41bn in the same period last year.
The company’s prepaid revenue increased by 14.4% to $414m compared to $362m in the same quarter previous year.
Revenue from contract services increased marginally to $4.14bn from $4.13bn, while roaming and other services revenue decreased to $133m from $160m.
For the fourth quarter ended 31 December 2010, the company’s operating income and net income decreased to $613m and $268m, respectively, compared to $649m and $306m for the same quarter last year.
For the fiscal year 2010, the company’s revenue, operating income and net income decreased to $21.34bn, $2.7bn and $1.3bn, respectively, from $21.5bn, $3.1bn, and $1.5bn for the previous fiscal year.
T-Mobile USA president and CEO Philipp Humm said their service revenues increased year-on-year in the fourth quarter and data ARPU growth rates outperformed their main competitors as they leverage their 4G network and provide rich and compelling smartphones and data plans.
"However, high contract churn and significant contract customer losses in the fourth quarter of 2010 indicate that we still have a fair amount of work ahead of us and that any turnaround will take time," Humm said.
