RAID has unveiled a new socket server that it says can improve performance while reducing energy consumption in the data centre.

The FusionRomley 2U 4-Socket Server, which is part of the Intel Xeon processor E5-4600 product family, is based on RAID’s new FusionRomley server platform.

The new server is designed for data centres which are looking for better performance while decreasing footprint and energy consumption.

Intel’s engineering for these processors was designed to deliver the combination of performance, built-in capabilities and cost-effectiveness. The new system is suitable for virtualised applications, cloud computing, data demanding enterprise applications and technical computing environments, the company said.

FusionRomley 2U 4-Socket Server supports Intel Xeon processor EP E5-4600 up to 8 Cores and130W TDP and offers maximum memory capacity of 1.5TB with Rack Optimized Performance with 48 LR/U/R-DIMMs at up to 1600Mhz.

FusionRomley 2U 4-Socket Server is compatible with operating systems, including Linux, Unix, Solaris and Windows.
