Novatel Wireless, a provider of wireless broadband access products, has unveiled the MiFi 2372 HSPA, the latest version of its Intelligent Mobile Hotspot developed for use virtually anywhere in the world, with multi-mode operation, including HSPA, UMTS, EDGE and GPRS.
The company claimed that the new offering enhances personal broadband connectivity not only by enabling access to connected devices, but also enables mobile access to new services, applications management and personalisation.
Like other models in the MiFi line of Intelligent Mobile Hotspots, the MiFi 2372 reportedly creates a personal cloud of internet connectivity that can be shared between multiple users and Wi-Fi devices such as laptops, cameras, gaming devices, smartphones and portable multimedia players. With data speeds of up to 7.2Mbps downlink and 5.76Mbps uplink, it allows users to access internet from anywhere there is a cellular connection, including moving vehicles where multiple passengers may need internet access.
The company said that the new offering also comes with its NovaSpeed technology, enhancing performance of video, online gaming, simultaneous uploads and downloads and large file transfers with minimal interruption or buffering.
The MiFi 2372 has an on-board applications processor which can deliver improved software applications and media. According to the company, the combination of internal (ROM) storage, up to 16GB of expandable microSD memory and on-board GPS capabilities make the new product a flexible platform capable of running a variety of location-based applications and enabling storage of personal content such as music, video and pictures.
