Acme Packet was initially selected by Korea Cable Telecom (KCT) in 2006 to support its hosted VoIP services launched at that time. KCT is using Acme Packet’s session border controllers (SBCs) to deliver secure VoIP services to its cable subscribers in Korea.
Acme Packet said that KCT uses a number of its critical control functions for security and service reach maximization. Acme Packet’s security framework, Net-SAFE, reportedly provides denial of service attack prevention, topology hiding and access control to protect KCT’s VoIP core and ensure network availability.
The Net-Net SBCs are claimed to offer signaling interoperability with a broad range of products, using Acme Packet’s SIP header manipulation feature to accelerate deployment and maximize the reach of KCT’s services.
Oh Young-Cheol, chief technology officer from KCT, said: We found the Net-Net SBC solution to be the most advanced and capable when we first deployed it, and now Acme Packet is helping enable our expansion endeavor by delivering interoperability and critical control functions instrumental to our success.
