Jazztel has launched a new internet connection product using VDSL2 technology of up to 30MB of download speed and 1.5MB of upload speed and free national calls.
The company said that the new VDSL2 technology is a version of the DSL technology that allows high transmission rates in short sections of the local loop.
Jazztel said that its VDSL2 customers will have a new Wi-Fi 11N router with automatic configuration. The new router (Comtrend VR-3025-a) works for ADSL as well as for VDSL2, however it will only be provided for VDSL2 services.
According to Jazztel, the VDSL2 router has four ethernet ports and a USB port that will enable the connection of
devices such as printers and hard disks, among others. It uses the 11N Wi-Fi standard, which is a new standard that substantially improves the connection speed and coverage.
In addition, it uses the WPA2 encryption standard with dynamic key encryption that allows for the highest level of security. The VDSL2 service will be provisioned with a dynamic IP, although there is the option of contracting a fixed IP.
The up to 30MB VDSL2 service will also have access to Jazztel’s self- services portal through which the customer can configure the service online. There is the possibility of applying a fastpath navigation profile to the VDSL2, designed to reduce the connection delay (or ping), a feature for online gaming.
The up to 30MB VDSL2 service plus free national calls will have a GBP43.10 set-up fee and the monthly fee will be GBP29.95 during the first year. After the first year, the fee will be GBP39.95/month. An additional GBP13.95 monthly line rental fee has to be added.
