Twitter has effected more changes in the company, naming former Google executive Omid Kordestani as its executive chairman.
The firm appointed its co-founder Jack Dorsey as the permanent CEO only last week, and is reportedly planning to axe staff as a part of its reorganisation efforts to drive efficiency.
Jack Dorsey took to his own Twitter Account to say: "A great chairperson is the first step to continuing to make our board one of the best in the world, and purpose-built to serve Twitter.
"Omid is a proven and experienced leader, who will directly help and coach me and our leadership, and help us recruit the best folks to Twitter."
Kordestani has worked with Google over a decade and was appointed by the search major as its chief business officer last year.
Previously, he had served as vice president at Netscape and HP and was a part of Spotify’s board of directors and Vodafone.
The Wall Street Journal cited a Twitter spokesperson as saying that Mr Kordestani is likely to be involved in the operations of the company, in a role which goes beyond overseeing just Twitter’s performance.
To be based at the firm’s San Francisco headquarters, he is expected to be in charge of "providing leadership and support for the executive team, as well as recruiting key talent."
Kordestani is, however, not much active on Twitter and has only posted 11 tweets since he activated his account in 2012.
His posted one after the appointment saying: "It’s rare you get to be at a company with an amazing business that’s also transforming the world. I’ve had [the] good fortune to be at three: Netscape, Google and now Twitter."
