TELUS, Canada’s telecommunication firm has deployed GENBAND’s A2 Converged Application Server across its network to provide business customers with the next-gen of voice, unified communications (UC) and collaboration services.
The deployment of GENBAND’s A2 is epxected to enable TELUS to offer UC services that combine voice, video, email, conferencing, presence and mobility applications onto a single, converged IP network.
TELUS will provide an array of IP business communication services, including PC-based soft client and call control capability that provides users the ability to handle calls, view call logs, manage voicemail and send and receive texts from their PC.
Customised web portal application service that enables businesses to create and manage communications services via a personalised web application; and an integrated multimedia collaboration that launch audio, video, and web conferencing capabilities on-demand are also in place.
The company said that its fixed mobile convergence features enhances mobile devices as extensions of an existing business communications service.
TELUS currently utilises GENBAND’s C20 Converged Softswitch across its network and combining of GENBAND’s A2 and C20 allows it to deliver advanced IP capabilities while simultaneously supporting legacy Centrex and Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) equipment.
TELUS said that this enables customers to migrate their network to IP in a phased approach and also allows TDM business users to avail advanced IP services without having to switch or replace their existing business line.
