A Microsoft update aimed to bolster security in Windows 7 has allegedly been causing users’ systems to reboot.
The corporate HQ at Redmond was forced to withdraw the patch following its release on Tuesday after users reported their systems rebooting, with the patch intended to add hash algorithm signing and verification for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 RT 2.
Microsoft added a comment to its Security Advisory page, where users could download the update, over the weekend, saying it had removed links for the patch: "Removed Download Center links for Microsoft security update 2949927.
"Microsoft recommends that customers experiencing issues uninstall this update. Microsoft is investigating behavior associated with this update, and will update the advisory when more information becomes available."
The update removal comes after patches released in September for OneDrive for Business and Lync, a messenger, were both removed because they contained bugs, while four more were pulled in August.
