The Tower of London, a British icon of security, set the scene yesterday as 100 cyber-security experts assembled for the launch of Security Serious Week.
The inaugural Security Serious Week, running from Monday 26 to Friday 30 October, will see 70 cyber security experts from around the world giving their time and expertise to companies wishing to become more cyber-aware.
A number of high-profile supporters gathered at the Tower of London photocall, including BT, HP Security Voltage, HSBC, and GlaxoSmithKline, in addition to a number of IT security vendors.
Government support for the initiative was shown by the attendance of the Department of Culture, Media and Sports.
A series of workshops, training sessions and webinars will take place throughout the week, aimed at educating users in a variety of security disciplines.
Yvonne Eskenzi, one of the campaign’s founders, said: "Security Serious is all about those that can’t, learning from those that can – it’s simple really.
"The week brings together our leading experts to convey their words of wisdom to those people and organisations who want to become more security savvy."
